A client asks: Are there any sectors or assets that are now so distressed we should invest in thme?
My response: We’ve put our heads together this end and looked at different things, including oil and other sectors.
I’ve not seen anything so compelling I’d recommend it to you at the moment. Not without getting esoteric and/or single company specific which brings its own difficulties regarding counterparty risks, due diligence and the like.
There is perhaps the odd country here and there that might be interesting – South Africa, Russia, China, but there are plenty of additional risks with them to contend with too.
My strong preference as we stand is to sit on our hands and wait for the main markets (large cap, smaller cap, emerging markets) to offer us up an opportunity that gives you very favourable odds.
