We ought to be careful which clients we accept.
We do it as business owners. We care who our colleagues are – will they be a good fit?
We do it as humans – we choose our friends carefully and they do the same.
But when it comes to client relationships, many get distracted by the fees to be earned and lose sight of the relationship that will earn them.
This is why it’s important to be brave and sometimes utter some iteration of “this is not for you” or “we won’t work well together”, it’s only fair on you and them.
