A couple of things that came to me recently….
“The 28 Laws Of Attraction”
There are some great points in “The 28 Laws Of Attraction” by Thomas J. Leonard – I recommend at least a thorough scan of this book.
These thoughts about “value” jumped out at me:
“ADDING VALUE VS. ADDING MORE—When you give someone more of what they want, you’re adding value. When you give someone more of what you want them to have, you’re adding more.“
“ADDING VALUE VS. SELLING—Adding value means being inventive and generous in giving potential customers what they want; selling is convincing them to buy what you have available.”
It strikes me that too often businesses are focussed on “more” and “selling” to the detriment of value. Sooner or later “more” becomes “less” and “selling” becomes “unsubscribing” in one form or another. And then those businesses do not perhaps reach the potential they could have and should have.
Where our focus is on value we can never run out of ideas, and our work with thrive.
Where it is not we likely engage in techniques, tactics and manipulation and our work suffers, and with it so do we.
Stock Picking vs Index Investing
Sometimes it’s tough going for even the greatest stock pickers:
If Warren can’t manage it over the last 20 years, why are any of us even beginning to think we might have a better chance?
Think of the time, effort and resources that Berkshire put in to achieve worse results than those available without effort and cheaply.
