Good morning and welcome to 2023. I hope you have all enjoyed a peaceful Christmas and New Year, I certainly did, and I am raring to go in 2023.
We went to Lapland before Christmas, and it turned out to be a great reminder about cost and value.
Finland is the 50th country I have visited in my 50 years, I like the symmetry.
Over the years I have travelled on planes, trains and automobiles in and on buses and coaches and minivans. I have flown business and stood next to the latrine for 8 hours through the night on an Indian train.
I have experienced the natural wonders of Antarctica, the Galapagos islands, the Amazon and an arribada. I have been to mega cities and three house villages I have seen temples, churches, museums, skyscrapers, mud huts and stadia galore. I have trekked, ridden and paddled to many places. I have been up big hills and down deep valleys.
You get the picture.
We spent 48 hours in Lapland. It was easily the most expensive holiday I have been on. We saw snow, Santa, reindeer, huskies, clouds and darkness. And the food was nothing to write home about.
The price was eye watering, but the value for money was out of this world, astronomical.
It was a truly magnificent and magical experience created by guides and elves that clearly cared about our experience. It was the people that made it unforgettable.
And we got to sing THIS over and over!! And to think I havered over the cost.
It is truly one of my top three travel experiences, the price is irrelevant when it delivers such value for money.
