TCFP25: Putting our best foot forward

by | Dec 28, 2017 | General News

We’re always trying to learn and improve at TCFP towers. Not just with technical stuff but in wider, deeper, more useful areas.

Juggling numbers, showing off technical expertise, product and investment knowledge is all well and good.

But you can pretty much train a chimp to do all of that.

Don’t believe me? Come and have a look at my certificates – I’m amongst the best trained chimps around.

Also, I work with a great team. Well educated, polite, hardworking and expertly equipped to know and understand the processes, tax, legislation, investments etc. etc. that are the mechanics of a good financial plan.

But, that part of the job, is a minor detail in the grand scheme of things. If we only concentrated on that, working together is likely to be shallow and unfulfilling for us both.

It simply doesn’t get to what is most important and that means we won’t be anywhere near as valuable as we could and should be.

Success, for TCFP, is helping you have new thinking and insights when it comes to your life. To help you understand that your money is the means to an end not the end itself.

For example, it’s not about being able to buy the “car”. It’s what’s the “car” for? What does it give you? And why is that important?

Once we have identified what the “car” brings to your life, and why that’s important, more thinking and action can follow that further enriches your life.

In getting to this level, we both get so much more out of working together.

To be this valuable we need to be at the top of our game, and that means having a completely uncluttered mind. No thoughts about our own lives, what time it is, what we’re having for lunch etc. No meeting outcome in mind. Nothing.

It also means, no distractions while you’re talking, no interrupting, just being 100% there with you, paying attention. That’s what we’ve started learning and understanding these last few months and it will continue.

Now there’s no agenda when we meet, just a blank piece of paper and a couple of questions:

“How are you feeling?”

and

“What’s important to you today?”

When all we are doing is listening we’re very likely to say the right, insightful thing at the right time.

And what on earth could be more important to you than that?
