Brilliant vs average

by | Feb 21, 2022 | General News

Is it better to be brilliant in just one thing?  Or reasonably competent in a few?

I think the latter, and I think life agrees.

For example, the quickest or strongest or most intelligent footballer is rarely the best footballer.

Good footballers need pace, strength, tenacity, intelligence and dedication. Being average in each of these, and combining them effectively, results in a world class footballer.

And so it is with financial planners, the best and most effective combine knowledge with curiosity, honesty, empathy, listening, perspective and critical thinking.

Specialists abound but are, by their very nature, limited. It’s the competent all-rounder that is usually the best option. Here’s to being bang average!!
